Linda Cox and Pismo PD graciously hosted this training and provided mourning snacks.

Vice President Dianna Fain presided in the absence of President Calli Biaggi.

Training:

·         Retired Commander Scott Smith of Pismo PD: Presented a homicide case, which will be on highlighted on Investigation Discovery Wicked Attraction on 7/22/09.

·         Jo Glisson of Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office: Presented the analyst’s role in the Michael Jackson case.

·         Reported tentative outline of proposed training.

·         Dates:   9/10-9/11/09 (Thur & Friday)  Targeting 30-65 attendees.

·         Host Hotel:  The Mission Inn of Pismo Beach.  They are offering room rates starting at $84.00 if we book a block of 30 now.  They are flexible if we need more rooms and have cooperative agreements with other nearby hotels if they run out of rooms.  They require a $500.00 deposit now to hold those 30 rooms. There is a restaurant; bar on site, the hotel provides a breakfast with the rooms and a limited hosted happy hour.  They will cater the lunch(es).  The classrooms are $100.00 a day and a set up fee is normally charged for each day, but they are going to charge only one $75.00 set up fee.  One classroom has been tentatively reserved, but the second one could be had for similar fees, possibly for vendors.

·        CCIAA is giving one scholarship to each regional group to allow someone to attend this training in lieu of the State Conference.

Motion made to set aside $2,500.00 working capital for the conference with the expectation it will be recovered.  Expenditures above that will have to come back to the group for discussion and a vote.  Seconded.
